Seventeen of the 'late night degenerates' joined us on the virtual felts of Lock Poker this past weekend for another episode of The Impromptu. This game is enjoying life in it's new home, and the great players that make up the field each week always bring a lot of fun to the table.
Once again, Tami 'T bone9' and myself were shoutcasting on LuvinPoker Radio, bringing you live commentary, laughs, and some music too, for your entertainment. And you can pick up the action from the final table below, as we settled in with these nine fine players . .
Starting the final table as the short stack, and in the big blind with just about 8bb, I would have my work cut out for me to win my tenth Impromptu. However, just surviving the next orbit was all that was on my mind at the time. zix zix took a chance, rather slow playing a pocket pair of Queens. Halfcent2012 made top pair on the flop, and trips on the turn, and these two got the money in. No help for zix' Queens, and he hit the rail in ninth place.
The Queens were no good for msdebbie either, and Eirkur2 would 3-bet shove over her open with AK, and the race was on. The flop would come 4h,Kd,7c, and no help for her Queens would felt Debbie in 8th place.
As I was quietly working my stack up from the brink, I would pull the 3-bet shove with AK, over the pot-committed Lil Ms Pushy. Neither of us would connect with the board, but my Ace would play, and having her covered, Lil Ms Pushy would be our 7th place finisher.
Halfcent2012 would make his stand with an 8bb shove with KT. But SuddenMoves was in for a call wtih KQ of hearts. A King on the flop put the kickers in play, but running Queens would give SuddenMoves the full house, and Halfcent2012 would finish in 6th place.
There is always a crowd on the rail at the Impromptu, as it is simply too much fun to leave the room, even after you've been felted. And the banter in the chat box is a big part of what makes the Impromptu such a fun experience. It's all about the great people we know as the 'late night degenerates.'
DrRunGood1 made his standard min-raise, and when T bone9 3-bet shove, he instacalled with his pocket sevens. I don't think T bone9 wanted the call though, her A5 of hearts was vulnerable, and the sevens would hold, felting T bone9 and sending her to the rail in 5th place.
Bubble play began with these players and stacks:
Seat 2: DrRunGood1 (16,787 in chips)
Seat 3: SuddenMoves (8,330 in chips)
Seat 8: curtinsea (5,138 in chips)
Seat 9: Eirkur2 (3,745 in chips)
Seat 3: SuddenMoves (8,330 in chips)
Seat 8: curtinsea (5,138 in chips)
Seat 9: Eirkur2 (3,745 in chips)
This was a tough bunch, as these three 4-time winners stood between me and my 10th Impromptu victory. Having finished 3rd two weeks ago, and 2nd last week, it seemed only logical I would be destined to win. But I was going to need some luck!
After a quick double-up thru DrRunGood1, I was up pretty equal in chips to him and SuddenMoves, with Eirkur2 falling behind as the blinds crept up. Eirkur2 would make his stand with AK, but DrRunGood1 snapped him off with KQ, and with a Queen on the flop, we would lose Eirkur2 on the bubble in 4th place.
SuddenMoves was putting the work to myself and DrRunGood1, taking equally from us and gathering a bit more than half the chips in play. But when he jammed on me, I made the call with my Big Slick against his JT. A ten on the flop was soul crushing, but my spirit was revived as I made the four flush on the river to move in to the chip lead.
DrRunGood1 made his stand, shoving it in with A8. SuddenMoves made the call with A7, and a fortuitous seven on the flop was enough to felt DrRunGood1 in 3rd place, and take us to heads up action.
All the action now would be preflop, as SuddenMoves shoved on me repeatedly. I was making some stabs of my own, but the chips were creeping across the table slowly but surely. As he accumulated a better than two to one chip lead on me, and with the hecklers trying to talk me into second place, I made a stab, shoving my button with J7 of spades, only to be snapped off by SuddenMoves'. I honestly didn't see the seven on the flop or realize I'd won the hand until the chips swept to my side of the table. But once I realized, I did a little happy dance none the less.
Now with the chip lead, I snap called with a suited King when SuddenMoves shoved the very next hand, and his QT would not improve, my King high taking the pot, and the win, for my record extending tenth Impromptu title!!!!
I want to thank everyone for coming out to play, and for listening in on our shoutcast. I hope you all enjoyed the show. This was another great Impromptu, and it was awesome winning against a tough bunch of players.!!
