Eleven!

Twenty 'late night degenerates' came out to the virtual felts of Lock Poker last week for another running of that great game we know as The Impromptu. Tough players all, but only half would be able to earn at a seat at the final table, and these were those players . . .

DMJeff was knocking off the competition right and left, and looked to be on his way to an Impromptu win, but the wheels would fall off of that wagon, and he would fall short of the win, but still make the money.

It soon became apparent we would see tough battle between two of the Impromptu's top players. Zixipoo, with a record ten wins to his credit, looked to break the tie at the top of the winners list with an eleventh win, while burkey76 sought to get up close to that tie himself with a ninth win in this great game. They would give us a great battle at the end, and the game would come down to this final hand . . .

Congratulations to zixipoo on his record setting eleventh Impromptu title!!

Results for 11.17.13

The late night degenerates once again took to the virtual felts of Lock Poker for the weekly competition we know as The Impromptu. Twenty-six players sat down for some poker action, and tuned in for the broadcast of the game. Your host made a hasty exit and his second-nut flush turned out to be second best, and curtinsea would be the first player eliminated.

While not near as exciting as when still in the game, there was still a great game to call, and we had all the action covered on LuvinRadio. Fifteen players would face defeat before we could settle on a final table, and when we reached it, all but one of the remaining players were proven Impromptu winners. And so the question remained, which of these nine players would be the next to hoist the Impromptu Cup?

We lost our tenth and eleventh place finishers at the same time, leaving only nine at the final table. Unnamed in the seven and eight seats were Leprekahn and cainiac, respectively.  The battle was fierce, and while Eirkur2 came to the final table with a big lead, he would have to settle for third place, as Leprekahn and island21 would face off heads up for the win.

And in the end, the game would come down to this final hand . . .

Congrats to Leprekahn on his sixth Impromptu title!

And a big hand to island21 on a great match and runner up finish!

And thanks to all the late night degenerates for coming out and giving us another great game!!

Results for our 200th Impromptu!

Forty-three players turned up last night for the 200th running of The Impromptu, as we celebrated this milestone with friends old and new. We also changed up our broadcast of the game by bringing on some guests, regular members of the 'late night degenerates' and previous champions all.

The Final Table

Ten players would make up the final table, among them six previous winners with a combined thirty-seven victories, making for one of the toughest final tables in Impromptu history. These players were all 'in the money,' and this is how they lined up . . .

I would go hand by hand how the final table players were eliminated, if not for a lack of hand history stored on the new Lock 2.0. But here is how 4th thru 10th went out . . .

10th - luckylucy
9th - clanvotf187
8th - burkey76
7th - tourpro1500
6th - kevinb1
5th - zixipoo
4th - shyne42

This left a three way battle between woohoosueloc, looking for her 2nd Impromptu win in the last three weeks, and playpal, looking for her first win in her first ever Impromptu, and of course curtinsea, seeking his record 11th win. woohoosueloc found herself shortstacked, and would be the first of the final three to the rail. This left curtinsea and playpal in a heads up battle, with the latter holding a two to one chip lead she would never relinquish. The final hand saw curtinsea make an all in move with suited paint, and playpal made the call with a suited ace. A couple of spades on the flop brought curtinsea close with a flush draw, but not only did playpal's Ace high hold, she would back door a flush of her own, and take down the 200th Impromptu!

The Trophies

Congratulations to our winner, playpal!

And our runner up, curtinsea!

Our Many Thanks

It's been a remarkable run, 200 events in under four years is a milestone I never imagined when we started this game. But the great people who come out and play with us are what makes this game so much fun, and such a 'can't miss' event each week. We have moved from site to site, but the 'late night degenerates' have held together like family all the way. So we'd like to thank you, the players, first and foremost, for your dedication to the game, and for bringing the fun to the table for all to enjoy.

I'd also like to thank Fabolous1, zuluwarrior, and of cours Halfcent50, for your contributions to this game, and your support again and again of the community games we all enjoy so much. I'd also like to thank LuvinRadio for allowing us access to their shoutcast station so that we may bring you what we hope is an entertaining broadcast.

And finally, let me thank my cohost in the broadcast booth, tamijodarling, for bringing your spirit and energy to the show. Without you I would be lost

Results for 11.3.13

Changes to Lock Poker found the 'late night degenerates' playing on Lock 2.0 for the 199th running of the Impromptu. Twenty players found their way to the virtual felts, and another great game ensued. A faster than usual blind structure for this game found us with shallow stacks pretty quickly, and an issue with late registration found us not getting to a final table until these eight players remained . . .

We had a great battle at the final table, as the chip leader fought valiantly to take another Impromptu Cup. But he found himself up against a formidable opponent in four time winner Eirkur, as these two would battle it out for the victory, which hinged on this final hand . . .

Congratulations go out to Eirkur2 on his fifth Impromptu victory!!

And a big hand to Halfcent2012 on a great battle to the end!

Our thanks go out to all of the great players who came out for the Impromptu. We hope to see you and all your friends for the 200th running of this great game!!

Results for 10.27.13

Another great game last week, as the late night degenerates once again took to the virtual felts of Lock Poker. Twenty one players, all after that coveted Impromptu Cup, gave us some great poker. Halfcent2012 offered up three $2 bounties on the heads of Tbone9, DrRunGood1, and curtinsea.

woohoosueloc would take the first bounty when she sent DrRunGood1 to the rail in 17th place. She would also take the second bounty, knocking out curtinsea in 14th place, putting her among the chip leaders when we reached a final table with these nine fine players . . .

With zix zix's elimination in 4th place, we broke the bubble with woohoosueloc, Leprekahn, and Tbone9 left to fight for a split of the prize. But Tbone9 would fall in 3rd place, as woohoosueloc would collect the third and final bounty to complete the sweep. She then set her sights on her first Impromptu title, but she would have to go thru Leprekahn, a five time winner, to get there. Her unstoppable run to the top culminated in this final hand . . .

Congratulations woohoosueloc! Welcome to the Impromptu Hall of Champions!

Another great finish for Leprekahn, reaching heads up play once again

Thanks to all the players who came out and joined us last week. Hope to see you all again on Lock 2.0 this week, and don't forget next week is our 200th running. Don't miss out on this money added celebration!
