October 31st, HALLOWEEN!!!!
A spooky game broke out on All Hallow's Eve, with a gathering of the late night degenerates once again brought us a great game with a lot of action. Unfortunately, we didn't get it on video, and most of us couldn't remember the night before, so instead we tip our hat to SmokeWeedman,

who picks up his fifth Impromptu Cup overall, and fourth this year! Congratulations!!!

It has been a while since our last report, following jhugss' most recent win. He is in our thoughts at this time as well. There have been seven games since that last report, with seven different winners.

September 5th: kwdog and CPAlumn would do battle heads up for the Cup, with CP coming up just shy. This was kwdog's first Impromptu win. Congratulations!!  Click for trophy

September 12th: comebk777kid became the first in a very long time to break the 'chipleader curse' we see come to play so often. He held the chip lead for much of game and dominated the final table, cruising to his first Impromptu title by defeating MENDO_PURP heads up. Congratulations on your first win!! Click for trophy

September 19th: Angels ruled, as Terri and Mikey of the Angels Clan would face each other heads up, both vying for their first ever Impromptu victory. On this night, however, it would be mikey m picking up the Cup! Congratulations!! Click for trophy

September 26th: We had yet another first time winner, as Royal Puppy finally scored and impressive Impromptu victory. He was able to out duel mcleaver in heads up action to secure the victory. Congratulations!! Click for trophy

October 3rd: The one I've waited for!! After trailing icktums for over all number of wins for quite a spell, with my third win of the 2015 I once again climbed to the top of the all time list with 16 wins! Sparky1USA played me tough heads up, but I won the big pot in a close spot to take the win! Click for trophy

Final table replay

October 10th: This would be our 300th Running of The Impromptu, and a great field of 'late night degenerates' turned out for the affair. Taking the victory would be EvilEmpire26, who topped the challenge of the notoriously hard to get yb2ez. Congratulations on your vicotry! Click for trophy

October 17th: Our most recent outing saw some of the top players fighting for the victory. Burkey32 was in command for most of the game, and probably felt the curse playing in on him. It couldn't help but add to the pressure that there was 5.00 on his head, or 10.00 for him if he won. But it was not to be, as LRPharm (garfield) and Halfcent50 would battle heads up, with Garfield getting the win, his first. Congratulations!!! Click for trophy

August brought us some great games at The Impromptu, and Shyne42 was a force in them all. Heads up in four of the last six games, including the last three in a row, he continues to move up the all time wins list, becoming the fourth play with 10+ wins.

On the first, StrangeRoo got herself in the Hall of Champions with her first victory, taking the win over Tourpro1500. Congratulations !!

On the eighth, CamasGoose picked up his second win, denying me a record setting 16th victory. Well done !!

On the fifteenth it would be Shyne42 doing the same, avenging a loss from last month, and picking up his tenth Impromptu Cup! Congratulations !!

On the twenty-second, SmokeWeedman would slip past Shyne42, picking up his fourth title with the win. Congratulations !!

And on the twenty-ninth, it would be jhuggs taking the victory, and keeping Shyne42 at bay with his ten wins a little longer. Well done !!!!

Great games everyone!!!

#285 thru #289

Yes, it has been a month since we've seen a game report from our host, but for some reason this week he is getting right on it. We might find out why later . . .

Picking up from June 27th's game, we had a great game that came down to a match-up between jalchris and maxgoodtimes. It would be Al taking it down, relegating maxgoodtimes to second, and picking up his second Impromptu Cup!  But he wasn't done yet . . .

Kwark2 would be getting his first taste of Impromptu victory, when he took down the Fourth of July Edition of our game. Fireworks, there were plenty, and he was able to keep ComeBk777Kid from coming back in heads up play.

With another fine performance, jalchris found himself heads up again, twice in three games, in the July 11th game, this time against the venerable cainiac1. The result would be the same, and jalchris took down his third Impromptu title!

July 18th saw CamasGoose securing his seat among the repeat winners of The Impromptu, wrestling away the Cup in a victory over fliptheflop.

And of course . . .

Last night saw your host, curtinsea, have an incredible run to the victory in the biggest field we have seen in a while. Forty-four players started, and by the break we had 27 remaining. That was about the time we got the broadcast issue sorted out, and Halfcent and curtinsea picked up the action there. Victory came in heads up over Shyne42, after cainiac1 fell out in third place. Great game everyone, and congrats to me on #15!

Last week's Impromptu saw thirty-one 'late night degenerates' take to the virtual felts in Markie's Home Game Club on Pokerstars, with so many fine players doing battle for the coveted Cup. Our final table was packed with previous winners, with more than fifty Impromptu wins between them, and including four of the top five all time winners.

But Markie would pwn them all on her way to her first Impromptu title, denying me my record tying 15th win, and instead extending my record of runner up finishes to 19.

Congratulations to MaGicfours on your Impromptu victory!!!

Last night brought us another fantastic game with the ' late night degenerates' as we gathered around the virtual felt for another great Impromptu. Another tough final table saw several players take significant chip leads, only to see their stacks contract even faster. When the carnage was mostly over, my cohost on the broadcast Halfcent50 found himself heads up for The Cup against fellow five-time winner Max_Spaniard.

With a significant chip lead, 'Santa' made a bold call, and with a fortuitous turn and river brick, Halfcent50 would take his sixth Impromptu trophy.

Congratulations to our winner, and all the great players who keep bringing it!!

Later results for The Impromptu of June 6th, 2015

A newcomer to the 'late night degenerates' made an impression in his debut, playing an aggressive style and storming his way to his first Impromptu title, taking on a strong final table that included 6 previous winners accounting for 34 Impromptu Cups between them. CPAlumn and Leanto133 gave a great fight, finishing second and third respectively.

Congratulations to our winner kidjoker130 and a big hand to the great 'late night degenerates' for giving us a great game!

A great game jumped off last night in that ironically named, long running weekly scheduled tournament we know as The Impromptu, as 42 players took to the virtual felts to do battle for the coveted Cup. Making our second broadcast on Twitch.tv, courtesy lapokernostra.net, I was joined in the virtual broadcast booth with Halfcent50, aka Santa, to bring you the action.

Kidjoker130 was well in command of the final table, holding twice as many chips as jhugs5555 playing eight handed. Leprekahn,  my early pick for the win, would finish in ninth place. We pick up the action at the final table, as a showdown ensues between jhugs5555 and Shyne42 . . .

The Impromptu! May 30th, 2015

Part 1 - 11:21                               Part 2 - 11:38

It would be jhugs5555, Kidjoker130, and Halfcent50 playing three handed for the Cup. Santa was at a huge chip disadvantage to the other two players, but those big stacks couldn't avoid sparring with each other, and Kidjoker130 would get the short end of that battle, and finish in third.

jhuggs5555 would not relinquish his huge chip lead, and Santa would have to settle for a runner up finish. This is Jim's first Impromptu Title, which is a bit surprising. But I am sure now that he has a taste for it, he'll be back for more. Congratulations!!!

We had a great game at the ol' Impromptu last night, with solid play right to the end. As predicted by your host following my elimination in sixth, the game would come down to a battle between Max_Spaniard and SmokeWeedman

Max_Spaniard had led for the bulk of the game, which seems to be the recipe for finishing second, something we see all too often. That would be the case this week as well, as SmokeWeedman would wrestle away the chip lead, and then seal the victory on the final hand.

This is SmokeWeedman's third win overall, and he denies Max_Spaniard his sixth win in the process. Great game guys, and congratulations to our winner!!!

Last week saw stickybigbud make it to heads up play for the third straight week, and this time he would not fall short. With the sting of coming second the previous week still fresh in his mind, his determination and solid, aggressive play would put him over the top for his second win in three weeks. This is his third win over all. A big hand to AvasMom, who scored her best ever Impromptu finish with the runner up spot. No doubt she will be getting her first Cup in the near future.

Forty-two 'late night degenerates' turned up last night for another great installment of The Impromptu! Stickybigbud was looking for a repeat victory, and appeared to be on track to get it. However, there were some tough players who were looking to prevent that from happening.

One of those players was his clan mate, and they would find themselves in a heads up duel for the title. While sticky got it in good, the final hand took a bad turn for sticky, and he would have to settle for second best this night.

Instead it would be Shyne42 hoisting the Cup, his ninth over all. This puts him in a tie with Lewsifer for fourth on the all time winners list, verging on 'hall of fame' status. Congratulations Shyne on the win, and kudos to Sticky for making it oh so close!

Next week will be our first run on Twitch. Click on the 'Live Broadcast' tab for details

Last week was a very exciting game, with two tough competitors fighting it out for the coveted Impromptu Cup. Ramertamer2 made a return appearance after a long, long absence, and he showed he hasn't lost a step since we'd seen him last. But of course stickybigbuds is no slouch himself, and he had designs on taking home the Cup himself.

When the dust settled and the chips slid to one side, it was stickybigbuds coming out victorious, and with the victory he claims his second Impromptu title!!!

Sir Slacksalot has been remiss in posting prompt results, but we've got all the latest for you here today. Here's a quick run down of the winners of The Impromptu for the month of April.

FFBJack put together a great run, and took his first ever Impromptu Cup on the 5th, defeating the always competitive ChipFlick in the heads up battle.

On April 12th, it would be cainiac picking up his second ever Impromptu Cup, coming more than two years after his first, earning him a spot on the fun facts page. He defeated newcomer TonyTrom63 for the win.

Max_Spaniard, aka colonelangus, would become a five time winner of The Impromptu on the 19th, as he took a victory over Halfcent50.

And lostsoul311, aka FUCard311, would become the seventh player with eight or more wins in this great game this past weekend. He would take victory over Halfcent50, making consecutive heads up appearances.

A big hand for all of these great players, and wishes for continued success in this great game!!

#271 and #272

We have been having great turnouts since the necessary move to a free2play game in Pokerstars' HomeGame Club, with a lot of great banter and still quality play from both regulars and new members of the 'late night degenerates.' I thank you all for continuing to support and participate in this great game!

Last week, we had this great final table doing battle for the coveted Impromptu Cup . . .

As you can see, yoyo19742 came to the final table with twice the stack of his nearest rival, RJS75, and he would wield that big stack effectively to the end. It has been a few years since yoyo1974 was a regular participant in The Impromptu, and he put a stamp on his return to the game with the win, his third overall

Last night, we had 46 players turn up for The Impromptu, and when we got to the final table, it was anybody's game . . .

Lewsifur, a nine-time winner, holds more wins than the rest of the table combined, and he showed his stuff several times, battling back into the chip lead on numerous occasions. But he would come up short, finishing third and leaving SmokeWeedman and islandtime21 to do battle heads-up. It definitely looked to be SmokeWeedman's night, but islandtime21 was tenacious, and picked up a big pot that turned the tide in his favor, and he would finish out the game with his second victory

Congratulations to the winners, and a big hand for all for making these great games. Join us every Saturday night for good poker and a great time!

Forty-six players turned up this week for another great game at The Impromptu this week, and the game was full of twists and turns that kept it competitive right to the end. Joining me in the virtual broadcast booth this week were last week's winner, grindes, along with Lil Ms Pushy, to help call the action and entertain the troops.

Pokerstars Home Games - Showcase:LuvinPoker ( 819773) Invite Code: Luv2play

The action seemed to be pretty quick, as players dropped quickly. First to the rail would our all-time win leader, icktums, whose pocket Aces got flushed on the river when curtinsea could not, or would not, let go of his suited Ace. Stopping icktums, and burkey32 for that matter, from stretching their lead in overall wins on me is always my #1 goal, and with both of them out early, the opportunity was there for me to gain some ground.

One player seemed to be running in God-mode, as Craigll ran over players right and left, amassing an impressive stack and seemingly heading for greatness. But as we see all to often, the early dominant chip leader is not always assured victory, as would be the case here. Craig would lose a couple of big pots, with TreyMingle being the main beneficiary, and would fall short of making the final table. Instead, we would settle in to a final table just as we got to the second break, with these nine fine players . . .

From here, it would be TreyMingle running over the table, as destiny now appeared to be shining on the two-time winner. By four handed action, he had 60% of the chips in play, while myself, ohpokergal, and Tourpro1500 were battling for the scraps. I had established a solid second chip position, albeit with less than half the stack of the chip leader. With TreyMingle raising and re-raising every hand, Tourpro1500 made a bold 20bb shove with a naked Ace, and Trey called off for 40% of his stack with Jack-King off. But two Kings on the flop would seal his fate, and Tourpro1500 would finish in fourth place.

This gave Trey a bit more than a 3 to 1 chip lead over me, with ohpokergal as the short stack. But on the very next hand, he would double me up as I got it in with a flush draw and Trey called with a lesser flush draw. The flush would complete on the river, bringing me nearly even with the chip leader.

The game would take a dramatic turn a couple of hands later. Trey opened for 3.5x, and I 3-bet to 13x (7740 chips). ohpokergal responded with a 4-bet shove to 16,570. Trey went in the tank for a moment before shoving his stack. This seem to be the spot that could decide the game, as I called off my stack with pocket Queens. TreyMingle showed pocket Jacks, and ohpokergal turned over a naked Ace. The flop would bring two Aces, and when the dust settled, ohpokergal was the new chip leader with just under 50K chips, I was in 2nd with 36k, and Trey was left decimated with just over 5k.

Trey would get the last of his chips in the middle on the next hand, and I made the call. Trey was well behind, and despite a scary turn card, he would fall in 3rd place. I would go head to head with ohpokergal, slightly behind in chips. Sitting pretty deep stacked, we traded pots for around 20 hands. I commented on air that it was going to come down to a cooler of a hand, and that hand would materialize, as we got all the chips in the middle with both of us on a flush draw. When the flush hit on the river, I had the higher cards, and almost all of the chips, with ohpokergal left with less than five big blinds. Though she would double up on the next hand, it only took one more to clinch the victory, my 14th overall.

A fantastic game for sure, and I was fortunate to make some big hands. I want to thank everyone for coming out and making a great game of it, and I hope to see you all again next week!

Grindes proves the math wrong!

Fifty players turned up this past Saturday night for another fantastic Impromptu! It's great to see so many coming and playing with what can only be described as an awesome group of players.

We got to a final table with these nine fine players . . .

Grindes would catch the eye and the ire of the broadcast team, when he folded in the bb to what was essentially a min-raise shove. As he was working the short stack meticulously, he made many a fold where getting it in seemed the better play. Clinging to life by any means, including folding UTG with only 4bb, he would catch the right cards when it mattered, and with a few big double ups, he would become the chip leader, and eventually the winner, taking down victory heads up against cainiac.

Congratulations to grindes on his first Impromptu Cup!!

Another first time winner!

We saw another great crowd turn up for The Impromptu, as we settle into a new home in Pokerstars' HomeGames. A lot of new players joining in on the fun makes for fantastic games with interesting dynamics. But there were some familiar faces doing battle at the end for the coveted Cup. We didn't have a live broadcast this week, as I have been ill for the last few days, but we will be back 'on air' next week.

Pokerstars Home Games - Showcase:LuvinPoker ( 819773) Invite Code: Luv2play

As the final table worked down to short handed, the man with the most (15) wins all time in the Impromptu had a big stack, and appeared to be well in the hunt. But Lewcifer was also there and playing strong, and when he doubled through and crippled icktums, the latter's hunt would come up short.

LeanTo133 was also there short handed, and had been holding steady, but Lewcifer would send him to the rail in third place. Now heads up and looking for that Hall of Fame making tenth Impromptu victory, he would do battle with CamasGoose, who was having a great game as well.

Unfortunately for Lewcifer, getting it in good would not be good enough. Betting CamasGoose all-in, with top pair on a wet board, CamasGoose made the call with an open ended straight draw. The straight card would hit on the turn, and the bulk of Lewcifer's chips would cross the table. Lewcifer would get his remaining chips in  with an edge, but that hand would not go his way either, and his run would come up short.

CamasGoose played a great game and took down The Impromptu against tough competition. Our congratulations to you, and may it be the first Cup of many!!

What is The Impromptu?

The Impromptu is a long running micro no-limit hold 'em poker tournament, which began on a whim on the final weekend of 2009. Since then, it has run continuously, every Saturday night, missing only three games in five years. The game is currently being held as a 'free2play' game, legal everywhere, in the Showcase:LuvinPoker HomeGame Club on Pokerstars. New players are always welcome.

Pokerstars Home Games - Showcase:LuvinPoker ( 819773) Invite Code: Luv2play

The game originally began at 2am eastern time, and thus the players were dubbed the 'late night degenerates.' Circumstance has seen the start time get earlier and earlier, so we're not up quite so late these days. But the LND are a great crowd to sit down with, and we have a fun game each and every week.

For the past couple of years, curtinsea and tamijodarlin have been broadcasting live on LuvinRadio, providing in-game coverage and commentary. Tune in when playing, as no doubt we will be talking about you!

So come and play The Impromptu, and maybe you can hoist the coveted Impromptu Cup.

The Impromptu Report (2.22.15)

Just as last week, and going forward in the future, The Impromptu will be 'free2play' on Pokerstars, in the Showcase:LuvinPoker Home Game Club. In this location, we can continue the tradition of welcoming new 'late night degenerates,' preserving the quality of the game, and of course, having a great time in the process. If you are not already a member of this Home Game Club, join today and register to play!!

 Previously, at The Impromptu . . .

Fifty-two players turned up last night for The Impromptu, with many of the 'old guard' degenerates were able to join us in the Showcase:LuvinPoker Home Game Club. Helping me call the action on the live broadcast was Ron "Halfcent50" Santa. I made an early exit from the game, but Santa hung in there and reached the final table . . .

richm7438 "Tooth" seemed to have an impenetrable chip lead, but he would give up a big chunk, doubling-up both Halfcent and 2HavAnd2Fold before going out in fourth place. 1CruelHand was quite short three-handed, but managed to have at least a taste of the chip lead before ultimately falling in third place.

Halfcent50 and 2HavAnd2Fold would do battle heads up, with the latter starting out with the chip lead. Santa was relentless, however, and wrestled away not just the chip lead, but ultimately the victory, as he would add a fifth Impromptu Cup to his collection. Congratulations on the victory!!

A big thanks to all the players, great to see so many come and play The Impromptu! Come and join us next week. Thanks to Ron for filling in for Tami on the broadcast, good to see it didn't impair your game ;)

 Previously, at The Impromptu . . .

Only seven weeks into 2015, we get our first review of previous games. In the first game of the year, newcomers to the Impromptu, rjs1975 and pogo would go heads up for their first Cup, with rjs1975 winning this round. The old guard was back the following week, with therealslomo defeating fishtrapper7, aka Jake_st, for his second Impromptu title. Pogo would return to heads up action, this time against FUCard311. But the result, for him at least, would be the same, as FUCard311 would take his seventh win in this game.

Shyne42 found his way to the top once again, taking out pogo in 3rd place while burkey was helplessly sitting out. This made for a swift heads up, with burkey missing out on another Cup. The following week, Spacecase made it to the top of the heap, claiming his second Impromptu Cup over colonelangus. Shyne42 would book-end Spacecase's win with yet another win of his own, taking his eighth victory over Jake_st.

Last week, CPAlumn would go head to head with icisic2000 for an Impromptu Title, and come away with the ultimate prize, joining the list of elite players to take victory in The Impromptu!!
