Our Fifth Anniversary Game!!!

The Impromptu has enjoyed five years of fun-filled games, and the regular group of players we know as the 'late night degenerates' continue to be the greatest group of players to enjoy a game with. This past weekend we celebrated this anniversary with our 265th running, and fifty players came out to enjoy the good times.

Which brought the game to heads up action. spookylizzie began heads up play with a 60/40 chip edge. But flashtacoma brought his 'A' game and wrestled the chip lead away, and then used it well to take the victory!!


Lets hope for five more years of good times to come! Thank you all again. And congratulations Flash!!

Repeat winners and a new record!

We had another couple of great games see the legends of The Impromptu taste victory once again. Back on the 14th of December, DrRunGood1 aka Fab would take a victory and extend his win count to eight, and putting himself all alone in fifth place on the all time win chart. He defeated LeanTo133 for the win.

The following week, Zixipoo would once again shine, and show the poker prowess that has kept him at or near the top of the all time winners list for so long, taking victory for the fifteenth time and setting him apart from all others as the winningest player in Impromptu history!!  He would defeat shyne42 heads up for the win.

Five Long Years!

It's actually flown by, hasn't seemed so long at all. But five years is how long The Impromptu has been a tradition among the great group of players we know as the 'late night degenerates.' To mark this milestone, and the 265th running of this great game, we are going to whoop it up a bit, and celebrate with as many of our friends and competitors as we can get to the table, and we're going to pump up the prize pool a bit as well.

News From The Impromptu!

I haven't done results for the Impromptu since early October, as colonelangus was in a hot streak, having just won back to back titles. Well it seems natural to get some results out, as we've come full circle, with colonelangus winning once again. This is the fourth time he has gotten to hoist the Imprompu Cup! He also took the bounty for KO'ing tenth place and breaking to the final table.

Incredibly, in the eight games between colonelangus' wins, burkey has been on a tear, taking three wins and moving into a tie with zixipoo on the all time leaderboard with 14 Impromptu victories! An amazing feat in a condensed time frame, burkey has been a consistent force to be reckoned with.

We have also had many new players finding the game and become 'late night degenerates' in their own right. Harpcat has played with most of us in private games for years, and he would pick up his first ever Impromptu, as with long time player island21, also taking his first Cup. New comers mrsredcard and tooth325 also picked up wins, both with impressive victories over solid regulars. And then there is gridlock10, a formidable opponent in every game he enters, he is always a threat, and he picked up a coveted Impromptu Title to add to his collection.

Colonelangus goes back2back!

Joining elite company, colonelangus takes his second Impromptu Cup in a row (third overall) and sets his sights on that elusive three-peat. He defeated fishtrapper, aka jake_st in a great heads up battle for the cup. Be sure and come out for next week's game to see if he can make it three in a row!!!

Long Overdue Trophy Page

In a fit of procrastination of epic proportion, I've been remiss in getting out acknowledgements of the great victories of  recent Impromptu winners. But I want you all to know that your continued support of this great game is appreciated, and your wins will not go unnoticed.

August 10th saw curtinsea win his second consecutive and thirteenth overall Impromptu Cup, bring him back into a tie, at the time, at the top of the all-time win list. He beat javajim heads up for the victory.

August 17th saw RaverRaider take his first Impromptu victory, defeating imyourdonkey in the heads up battle.

August 24th saw SuddenMoves take his ninth Impromptu title, solidifying his position in fourth place on the all time win list,. He defeated curtinsea heads up, denying him a record setting 14th win and instead giving him a record extending number of runner up finishes. This also avenged a previous heads up loss.

August 31st saw Mastro take his first Impromptu win, taking victory over Holdempimp in the heads up battle.

September 7th saw Maxgoodtimes take his first Impromptu win, with a victory over Halfcent2012 in heads up play.

September 14th saw zixipoo return to the top of the all time win list with his 14th Impromptu victory. Even with a bounty on his head, he was able to run thru the final table and take victory over cainiac in heads up play.

September 21st saw Burkey take another win, his eleventh. This puts him solidly in third on the all time win list, and he is doing his best to threaten those at the top. He defeated Maxgoodtimes heads up for the win.

September 28th saw colonelangus take his second Impromptu victory, with an outstanding victory over cainiac.

Congrats to you all on great victories, and here is to continued success in your battles with the 'late night degenerates.'

Four great games, four great winners

The Impromptu continues to be a great game each week, new players coming in and old regulars coming back, along  with the dedicated 'late night degenerates' making sure we have a great game.

Here is the trophy presentation for the past four games. Getting the win against some tough fields takes a strong game and a bit of lock, with each, hopefully, balancing things out.

Jachris picked up his first Impromptu Cup on July 13th, taking down the title in a great heads-up battle with DrRunGood. Great Job Al!

Jachris found himself heads up for the second week in a row, and looked to take down back2back Impromptu titles. But chicagoicon had other plans, and he wrestled the cup away for his 3rd victory in this great game.

SuddenMoves finally got past the suckouts and got his first Impromptu win of the year, and his 8th overall. He defeated DrRunGood heads up, moving into 4th place on the all time Impromptu wins list.

curtinsea picked up his first win of 2014, and his 12th overall, in last week's game. We all know he ran good to get the win, but congratulations still! He defeated therealslomo heads-up for the Cup!

Great times continue at the weekly gathering at The Impromptu, where the late night degenerates would once again do battle for the golden Cup! The Impromptu continues to one of the great weekly tournaments, with a great following of fun players making it so. A great big thanks to the players, who keep this game going, with now two hundred-forty games spanning more than four years.

Last night was yet another fantastic game, where dmjeff came from a short stack to surge into an imposing chip leader, crushing souls and raking chips, he found himself heads up with cainiac with a commanding lead. But not to go out without a fight, cainiac battled even in chips, but the final hand would swing to dmjeff, and he would take the victory!

This is dmjeff's second Impromptu victory, and moves him onto the list of players with multiple Impromptu wins. Great game Jeff, congratulations!!

A week ago we saw another great game. This time it would be Tourpro1500 dominating the final table. But he had tough competition in the way of tbone9, who was the defending Impromptu Champion, and was fighting hard for back to back wins. But it would not go tbone9's way, and Tourpro1500 would hoist the Cup!!

This is Tourpro's third Impromptu victory, where he joins seven other players with three Impromptu wins. Great game Clay, congratulations!!

Calling the action or being the action, she shows she can do more than just talk a good game. Two weeks ago Tbone9 used the Impromptu to demonstrate, once again, she is a formidable opponent at the poker table. She would get through one of the toughest Impromptu final tables totake the win in a great heads up battle with jachris.

This is Tbone9's seventh Impromptu victory, and she joins four other players for fourth place on the all time Impromptu wins list. Great game Tami, congratulations!!

New winners, repeat winners, late night degenerates all!!

I'm getting there . . . not getting these done in a timely fashion is making it that much harder to do, so I'll have to make a better effort to get the results out, so that The Impromptu Cup remains a coveted trophy.   :)

But please don't feel under appreciated or slighted, I'm here to acknowledge the great players who fought their way to victory in the last five games, ultimately hoisting the coveted Impromptu Cup!!!!

Going back to May 18th, we saw the Fabolous1, aka DrRunGood1, take down the competition and defeat LeanToo in a heads up match to win his seventh Impromptu title. This put him on Par with Eirkur, SuddenMoves, and SWEETTHANG for fourth on the all-time win list

On May 25th, we saw one of the old guard finally break a long streak between wins, and take down his fifth title. Jake has been on four wins for quite some time, but this week he would top the field as he stormed his way to the victory. Congrats Jake, aka fishtrapper!!

The first of June brought us a new member of the club of Impromptu winners, as one of our newest 'late night degenerate' broke through for his first Impromptu Cup! BearPlay is always fun to play with, and a formidable opponent on the felts, and it was obvious he would soon become an Impromptu winner. His victory in this game is sure to be only the first of many.

My on air cohost ran me over on her way to demolishing the field in what can only be described as a massacre, firmly establishing herself as one of the greats of this game, as well as one tough competitor! This is Tami's sixth Impromptu title, congratulations Tbone9!!

This brings us to last night's game, with both WillMingle and BearPlay looking to become repeat winners of the Impromptu. They gave us a great back and forth heads up battle to the very end. It would be WillMingle who would come away victorious, taking his second Impromptu Cup!!

Recent Impromptu Winners!!!

Going back to April 20th, we saw a great victory. As the broadcasters each picked who they thought would win, wjh10489 did not hear his name called. 

This would serve as all the motivation he needed, as he sliced his way through the remaining players one by one, until it was he alone with chips in front of him, taking the victory and his first Impromptu Cup!!

On April 27th, one of the toughest competitors among the 'late night degenerates' returned to his winning ways. Burkey came on strong and took all the chips on his way to victory.

This is Burkey's Tenth Impromptu victory, and moves him within one win of second place on the all time winners list. A definite force to reckon with, I guess I need to up my game before I drop down to third on the list!!

On May fourth, another great player collected yet another title, as FUCard311 collected his sixth Impromptu title. FUCard311 won his debut game against the 'late night degenerates' and has been a constant threat each week he joins us on the felts. After a runner up finish to wjh10489 two weeks before, this week he was able to push through for the well deserved victory

This win puts him among rare company on the all time winners list, and you can be sure he will continue moving up!

Which brings us to last night's game, where we saw another great battle, culminating in a fantastic heads up match between the chicagoicon and BearPlay. While it looked like BearPlay would rebound and deny Icon's his second Impromptu Cup, the tide would once again change, and chicagoicon would hoist the cup in a well played victory!!!

The Impromptu continues to be a great game among a crowd of the most enjoyable players week in and week out. Late results once again, but we are here to recognize the recent winners of that great game we call The Impromptu! Every week, we get a great game with a wonderful crowd known as the 'late night degenerates' who week in and week out give us a great time and a competitive challenge, battling it out for the coveted Impromptu Cup. April 6th 2014

This was another great edition of The Impromptu. We saw a great heads up battle between Santa and Kevin (Halfcent2012 and KevinB1). Halfcent would be the victor though, taking his fourth Impromptu Cup. Kevin would have to settle for another runner up finish, but he is surely on the verge of hoisting the Cup. We also had both of these players come on the air with us for a great post-game interview. Thanks guys for a great game!

April 13th 2014

SuddenMoves was once again on the verge of his eighth Impromptu Cup, but this stop he was stopped short by msbrenda, who had been giving the field a tough time throughout the game, and made a fantastic come from behind charge to take down her first Impromptu title!! With a second last month, a third last week, and now a second this week,




SuddenMoves seems poised to win another Cup. Who among you will stand in his way? Find out in the next great edition of The Impromptu!!!

This was another great edition of The Impromptu. We saw a great heads up battle between James and Kevin (james48906 and KevinB1). James would be the victor though, taking his first ever Impromptu Cup. We did get to chat a few moments with Kevin in an exit interview as well, thank you Kevin.

SuddenMoves looked to be on the verge of tying burkey for 3rd place on the all time win list, but he got into a back and forth heads up battle with dmjeff, and came out on the short end. dmjeff makes it two weeks in a row for first time winners with his first Impromptu title!!

ScrappyCuz, aka clan_votf187, is always tough, and this night was no exception, as he battled heads up with the always tough Spacecase. But on this night there was no denying him his first chance to hoist the Impromptu Cup, and for the third week in a row we have a first time winner of The Impromptu!!!.

This game was epic! Apparently not liking being considered odd-man-out when three handed by a certain broadcaster, burkey32 took it upon himself to wipeout the other two players, en route to his 9th Impromptu Title!!!  Way to go burkey!!

coolplaya13 would be stopped just short of victory for the second time. It won't be long before he becomes an Impromptu champion in his own right!
