Results for 12.29.13

In the final game of 2013, we celebrated the fourth anniversary of The Impromptu. Twenty-two 'late night degenerates' came out for the fun and game, and the action got busy quickly. After some back and forths, and a dozen eliminations, we found ourselves at this final table . . .

FUCard311 came to the final table with a solid chip lead, while cainiac1 came in as one of the short stacks, with only four big blinds in front of him. But cainiac1 showed some incredible tenacity, as he worked the short stack all the way to heads up play.

We saw a great heads up battle, but in the end, FUCard311 would not be denied, as he would take his fourth Impromptu title on the final hand.

Our congratulations to FUCard311 on a great victory!

And a big hand to cainiac1, after an impressive display of short stack play . . .

And our thanks to all of the late night degenerates, who come out each week and make The Impromptu the great game it has come to be!

Twenty-two 'late night degenerates' came out for the year's penultimate edition of The Impromptu, and we had another terrific game. SuddenMoves and Burkey76 would be the chip leaders at this final table . . .

Burkey76 did the heavy lifting early, knocking out the bounties one by one. But as the sponsor of most of the bounties, he would allow them to be assigned to new players, to keep those prizes in play. But in the later stages it would be curtinsea taking over, and knocking out the bounties along the way. But again, those prizes would instead be rolled over to the next week.

These two tough bounty hunters would find themselves in an epic heads up battle, with burkey fighting to pull within reach of the top two Impromptu winners, while curtinsea was trying to climb back into a tie with zixipoo for the most wins in this great game. And when the dust settled, it would be curtinsea taking his eleventh Impromptu title!

"It was a great game, and definitely a tough win against stiff competition. My hat's off to burkey76 on the tenacious effort to deny me number eleven. I'm thrilled with the victory"  -curtinsea

A big thanks to all of the 'late night degenerates' for coming out and making for a great game!

Twenty-six 'late night degenerates' came out to the virtual felts of Lock Poker for another fun filled Impromptu last week, and gave us yet another fantastic game, full of thrills and spills and thrills again, as some of the best this group has to offer fought hard for the coveted Impromptu Cup.

Ten tough competitors would make up the final table, with yours truly holding a slight chip lead and looking for that elusive eleventh win, to bring me back into a tie with zixipoo for the most Impromptu titles. But the competition at this table would be formidable . . . .

That chip lead would be short lived, and I would find myself on the rail in seventh place, with crushed dreams once again. Following on my heels would be Leprekahn, as he too found himself denied another Impromptu title. Five handed, eirkur2 skinned halfcent in a hand, leaving him crushed and, after posting the big blind and ante, only 458 behind. In just four hands, however, halfcent would come roaring back, knocking out polaris in fifth place along the way, and pulling even with eirkur2 once again.

halfcent2012 wins 2881 with a full house, nines full of jacks [9s Jh 9h Jc 9c]
halfcent2012 wins 5987 with two pairs, kings and queens [Qc Kh Ts Qh Kc]
halfcent2012 wins 2375
halfcent2012 wins 21521 with two pairs, jacks and nines [Jc Jh 9c 9h Ad]

After knocking out shyne and fishtrapper in consecutive hands to reach HU, and even in chips, our competitors would have just three hands of heads up play, with this being the final hand . . .

And with that, Halfcent2012 wins his third Impromptu title, and our congratulations!!!

And we have a big hand for eirkur2, who narrowly missed his seventh title with his runner up finish.

We thank all of the late night degenerates for coming out and playing with us, and giving us an excellent game each and every week.

Another great game at The Impromptu last weekend, as we had twenty-eight players take to the virtual felt of Lock Poker for this fun fest. All the usual suspects, and some new faces, made for some fine competition. We had to whittle down the field to come to this final table . . .

Tough players all around, but tbone9 not only had the dominant stack, she was simply dominating. Although drrungood1 was giving it his all, and would be the last man standing when he reached Heads Up play, this would not be his night, and tbone9 would win her fifth Impromptu Cup on this final hand . . .

Congratulations tbone9 on your fifth win!!!

And hats off to drrungood1 for the valiant effort!

Thanks everyone for making this another great game!

Eighteen 'late night degenerates' took to the virtual felts of Lock Poker last week for another great running of The Impromptu. A field full of former champions always makes for a tough battle. Eight players would give way to a final table of ten. These players would have the final push for the Impromptu Cup . . .

Eirkur came to the final table with the chip lead, followed by the new King of the Impromptu, zixipoo. It looked like me might see a battle of the "P8" for the glory. But zixipoo would find himself caught out with just a mincash, while Eirkur2 would storm his way to heads up play against the always formidable Tourpro1500. Their battle would come to a head on this final hand, as Tourpro1500 would get it in behind and catch the flop, only to see his hopes dashed as the board ran out

Congratulations go out to Eirkur2, winning his sixth Impromptu title!!

And a big hand for Tourpro1500 on a valiant fight to the finish!!

Our thanks go out to all of the 'late night degenerates' for giving us yet another fantastic game. Join us again this week as we roll out another Impromptu tourney.

Remember folks, the Fourth Anniversary game is approaching quickly, stay tuned for info on bounties and extra prizes.

Eleven!

Twenty 'late night degenerates' came out to the virtual felts of Lock Poker last week for another running of that great game we know as The Impromptu. Tough players all, but only half would be able to earn at a seat at the final table, and these were those players . . .

 photo 112413FT_zps4ec94cf2.jpg
DMJeff was knocking off the competition right and left, and looked to be on his way to an Impromptu win, but the wheels would fall off of that wagon, and he would fall short of the win, but still make the money.

It soon became apparent we would see tough battle between two of the Impromptu's top players. Zixipoo, with a record ten wins to his credit, looked to break the tie at the top of the winners list with an eleventh win, while burkey76 sought to get up close to that tie himself with a ninth win in this great game. They would give us a great battle at the end, and the game would come down to this final hand . . .

Congratulations to zixipoo on his record setting eleventh Impromptu title!!

And a big hand to burkey76 on a great runner up finish.

The late night degenerates once again took to the virtual felts of Lock Poker for the weekly competition we know as The Impromptu. Twenty-six players sat down for some poker action, and tuned in for the broadcast of the game. Your host made a hasty exit and his second-nut flush turned out to be second best, and curtinsea would be the first player eliminated.

While not near as exciting as when still in the game, there was still a great game to call, and we had all the action covered on LuvinRadio. Fifteen players would face defeat before we could settle on a final table, and when we reached it, all but one of the remaining players were proven Impromptu winners. And so the question remained, which of these nine players would be the next to hoist the Impromptu Cup?

We lost our tenth and eleventh place finishers at the same time, leaving only nine at the final table. Unnamed in the seven and eight seats were Leprekahn and cainiac, respectively.  The battle was fierce, and while Eirkur2 came to the final table with a big lead, he would have to settle for third place, as Leprekahn and island21 would face off heads up for the win.

And in the end, the game would come down to this final hand . . .

Congrats to Leprekahn on his sixth Impromptu title!

And a big hand to island21 on a great match and runner up finish!

And thanks to all the late night degenerates for coming out and giving us another great game!!

Results for our 200th Impromptu!

Forty-three players turned up last night for the 200th running of The Impromptu, as we celebrated this milestone with friends old and new. We also changed up our broadcast of the game by bringing on some guests, regular members of the 'late night degenerates' and previous champions all.

The Final Table

Ten players would make up the final table, among them six previous winners with a combined thirty-seven victories, making for one of the toughest final tables in Impromptu history. These players were all 'in the money,' and this is how they lined up . . .

I would go hand by hand how the final table players were eliminated, if not for a lack of hand history stored on the new Lock 2.0. But here is how 4th thru 10th went out . . .

10th - luckylucy
9th - clanvotf187
8th - burkey76
7th - tourpro1500
6th - kevinb1
5th - zixipoo
4th - shyne42

This left a three way battle between woohoosueloc, looking for her 2nd Impromptu win in the last three weeks, and playpal, looking for her first win in her first ever Impromptu, and of course curtinsea, seeking his record 11th win. woohoosueloc found herself shortstacked, and would be the first of the final three to the rail. This left curtinsea and playpal in a heads up battle, with the latter holding a two to one chip lead she would never relinquish. The final hand saw curtinsea make an all in move with suited paint, and playpal made the call with a suited ace. A couple of spades on the flop brought curtinsea close with a flush draw, but not only did playpal's Ace high hold, she would back door a flush of her own, and take down the 200th Impromptu!

The Trophies

Congratulations to our winner, playpal!

And our runner up, curtinsea!

Our Many Thanks

It's been a remarkable run, 200 events in under four years is a milestone I never imagined when we started this game. But the great people who come out and play with us are what makes this game so much fun, and such a 'can't miss' event each week. We have moved from site to site, but the 'late night degenerates' have held together like family all the way. So we'd like to thank you, the players, first and foremost, for your dedication to the game, and for bringing the fun to the table for all to enjoy.

I'd also like to thank Fabolous1, zuluwarrior, and of cours Halfcent50, for your contributions to this game, and your support again and again of the community games we all enjoy so much. I'd also like to thank LuvinRadio for allowing us access to their shoutcast station so that we may bring you what we hope is an entertaining broadcast.

And finally, let me thank my cohost in the broadcast booth, tamijodarling, for bringing your spirit and energy to the show. Without you I would be lost

Changes to Lock Poker found the 'late night degenerates' playing on Lock 2.0 for the 199th running of the Impromptu. Twenty players found their way to the virtual felts, and another great game ensued. A faster than usual blind structure for this game found us with shallow stacks pretty quickly, and an issue with late registration found us not getting to a final table until these eight players remained . . .

We had a great battle at the final table, as the chip leader fought valiantly to take another Impromptu Cup. But he found himself up against a formidable opponent in four time winner Eirkur, as these two would battle it out for the victory, which hinged on this final hand . . .

Congratulations go out to Eirkur2 on his fifth Impromptu victory!!

And a big hand to Halfcent2012 on a great battle to the end!

Our thanks go out to all of the great players who came out for the Impromptu. We hope to see you and all your friends for the 200th running of this great game!!

Another great game last week, as the late night degenerates once again took to the virtual felts of Lock Poker. Twenty one players, all after that coveted Impromptu Cup, gave us some great poker. Halfcent2012 offered up three $2 bounties on the heads of Tbone9, DrRunGood1, and curtinsea.

woohoosueloc would take the first bounty when she sent DrRunGood1 to the rail in 17th place. She would also take the second bounty, knocking out curtinsea in 14th place, putting her among the chip leaders when we reached a final table with these nine fine players . . .

With zix zix's elimination in 4th place, we broke the bubble with woohoosueloc, Leprekahn, and Tbone9 left to fight for a split of the prize. But Tbone9 would fall in 3rd place, as woohoosueloc would collect the third and final bounty to complete the sweep. She then set her sights on her first Impromptu title, but she would have to go thru Leprekahn, a five time winner, to get there. Her unstoppable run to the top culminated in this final hand . . .

Congratulations woohoosueloc! Welcome to the Impromptu Hall of Champions!

Another great finish for Leprekahn, reaching heads up play once again

Thanks to all the players who came out and joined us last week. Hope to see you all again on Lock 2.0 this week, and don't forget next week is our 200th running. Don't miss out on this money added celebration!

Nineteen late night degenerates gathered 'round the virtual felts of Lock Poker for that weekly shindig we call The Impromptu. It's been good seeing some of the old regulars return to the table and enjoy some poker with us. The action is always there, and the fun doesn't end until the final card is dealt, and last week was no exception! Of the nineteen who started, only nine fine players would make the final table, and here they are . . .

Tourpro1500 was one of those players making a return to the Impromptu after a long hiatus, and he wasted no time getting back in the groove, working his way through the field to get Heads Up with six-time winner Shyne42. They battled hard for the coveted come, but there can be only one winner, and that was decided on this final hand . . . .

Congratulations to Clay on a fine victory in his return! Here's to many more sweet victories in the future

And a big hand to Shyne42, just missing another victory in The Impromptu!

A big thanks to all of the great players who made this such a fun game!

We had another great game last week, as the late night degenerates gathered 'round the virtual felt of Lock Poker for The Impromptu! Twenty-three players piled in and did battle in what is easily the most entertaining tournament of the week.

Those twenty three would battle down to a final table with these nine fine players making the cut . . .

It was a great final table, and I found myself once again 'mincashinsea' leaving Leprekahn fighting for his sixth title against one of the new stars of The Impromptu, and last week's runner up, FlashTacoma.

These two put on a good show, but FlashTacoma would deal Leprekahn a crushing blow, and finally take down the tournament to capture his second Impromptu title!!

Results for 10.6.13 Burkey76 wins #8!

Seventeen 'late night degenerates' came out for last week's Impromptu, and another great game on the virtual felts of Lock Poker ensued. We had three bounties up for grabs as well, which always adds to the aggressiveness of the players.

We fought our way down to a final table with these nine fine players . . .

The bounties would be claimed by our heads up competitors, with burkey76 taking to and FlashTacoma taking the other. The game itself would come down to this final hand . . .

Congratulations to burkey76! This is his 8th Impromptu win, and those victories have come in the span of one year. This puts him in 3rd place over all, hot on the heels of the leaders, and with momentum on his side. Since we've been on Lock, he has continually put his stamp on the coveted Impromptu Cup!

FlashTacoma came oh so close to winning another Impromptu, and we give him congrats on his runner up finish!

And of course, thanks to all of the 'late night degenerates' who continue to make the Impromptu the great game of the week. See you all tonight!

Results for 9.29.13

Twenty 'late night degenerates' made it to the virtual felts of Lock Poker for that weekly event we know as The Impromptu. It's always a fun time with this crowd gets together, and a great can always be expected.

We started on three tables and, one by one, whittled that field down to the nine fine players who would make up the final table . . .

Players at this final table have a combined 33 wins in this game, so it was one of the tougher tables to get thru. As we played down to heads up action, we would find ChicagoICON making his presence known against the five-time winner Leprekahn, with the new guy taking the win on this final hand . . .

Congratulations to ChicagoICON, winning what is likely just his first Impromptu Cup

And a big hand for Leprekahn, coming quite close to his sixth win

And our thanks to everyone who came out to play, and those who tuned in to listen to us call the event, Hope you all can join us again tonight!
