Forty-three players turned up last night for the 200th running of The Impromptu, as we celebrated this milestone with friends old and new. We also changed up our broadcast of the game by bringing on some guests, regular members of the 'late night degenerates' and previous champions all.
The Final Table
Ten players would make up the final table, among them six previous winners with a combined thirty-seven victories, making for one of the toughest final tables in Impromptu history. These players were all 'in the money,' and this is how they lined up . . .
I would go hand by hand how the final table players were eliminated, if not for a lack of hand history stored on the new Lock 2.0. But here is how 4th thru 10th went out . . .
10th - luckylucy
9th - clanvotf187
8th - burkey76
7th - tourpro1500
6th - kevinb1
5th - zixipoo
4th - shyne42
This left a three way battle between woohoosueloc, looking for her 2nd Impromptu win in the last three weeks, and playpal, looking for her first win in her first ever Impromptu, and of course curtinsea, seeking his record 11th win. woohoosueloc found herself shortstacked, and would be the first of the final three to the rail. This left curtinsea and playpal in a heads up battle, with the latter holding a two to one chip lead she would never relinquish. The final hand saw curtinsea make an all in move with suited paint, and playpal made the call with a suited ace. A couple of spades on the flop brought curtinsea close with a flush draw, but not only did playpal's Ace high hold, she would back door a flush of her own, and take down the 200th Impromptu!
The Trophies
Congratulations to our winner, playpal!
And our runner up, curtinsea!
Our Many Thanks
It's been a remarkable run, 200 events in under four years is a milestone I never imagined when we started this game. But the great people who come out and play with us are what makes this game so much fun, and such a 'can't miss' event each week. We have moved from site to site, but the 'late night degenerates' have held together like family all the way. So we'd like to thank you, the players, first and foremost, for your dedication to the game, and for bringing the fun to the table for all to enjoy.
I'd also like to thank Fabolous1, zuluwarrior, and of cours Halfcent50, for your contributions to this game, and your support again and again of the community games we all enjoy so much. I'd also like to thank LuvinRadio for allowing us access to their shoutcast station so that we may bring you what we hope is an entertaining broadcast.
And finally, let me thank my cohost in the broadcast booth, tamijodarling, for bringing your spirit and energy to the show. Without you I would be lost
