Results for 6.16.13

Another great game with the 'late night degenerates' as we gathered around the virtual felts of Lock Poker for another edition of The Impromptu. Joining me in the virtual broadcast booth was our previous week's winner, DavidMavrikakis, as he was seeking back to back wins, although as fate would have it, there seemed to be what we oft refer to as the 'predetermined winner.'

Often one player makes an immediate impact on a game and then seemingly becomes unstoppable on their run. Something like that happened this week. Hoosier Dadd sent burkey76 quickly to the rail, in what I heard was the classic AA vs KK scenario. The quick double up didn't slow him down, though, as he sent Shyne42 to the rail close behind. zix zix would get his chips in the middle with top/top against the set of sevens held by BINK!, and that would bring us to a final table with these nine fine players . . .

This was a tough and exciting final table, with Hoosier Dadd holding a commanding chip lead, and with BINK! second in chips with about half that stack. As we got down to five handed, it seemed to be one of the broadcasters would be the next out. DavidMavrikakis looked in tough shape, but suddenly went on a tear, building his stack into third position. Finally, it would be me going out in fifth as I got my chips in the middle with a race between my AQ and BINK!'s pocket tens.

studdaddy420 made a good showing, but he would be our bubble finisher, and though BINK! had a solid game, he found himself out on the rail with a min-cash in 3rd place. This left DavidMavrikakis on the verge of repeating as champion. Only problem was the 'predetermined winner' standing in his way. And after a fantastic heads up battle, the game came to a finish on this final hand . . .

And so for the second week in a row, we have a first time winner of The Impromptu. Congratulations to Hoosier Dadd on the well deserved victory!!!

And a big hand for DavidMavrikakis on a strong finish and near repeat victory!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to play with us this week, and especially to DavidMavrikakis for hanging out in the booth. This week we will have Hoosier Dadd join us on the air. Come on out and join the fun!!

Results for 6.9.13

The 'late night degenerates' gave us another great competition at last week's Impromptu, with a small but strong field of proven winners and comers looking for their first Cup. Your host was the first to the rail, unable to push my opponent off of his flush draw, and unable to fold my Aces when I should have. MonkyLovah would follow to the rail behind me, and that would bring us to a final table, with these nine fine players . . . .

The big stacks coming into the final table had a hard time holding on to their chips. QTPIE1369 would fall in 7th place, while zix zix would fall in 5th. And Shyne42 would go out on the bubble on this hand . . .

For 69belette69, the Impromptu is in the wee, wee hours of the morning. And despite falling asleep at the wheel, Shyne42's bubble finish pushed her into the money for a min-cash.

Which left us with a great heads up match between Eirkur2, a four-time winner, and DavidMavrikakis, looking to put his stamp on the Impromptu Cup. And that is just what he did, after a fine back and forth battle, it all turned on this final hand . . .

A big congratulations to DavidMavrikakis for his first Impromptu Cup!!!

And a big hand for Eirkur2, just missing number five.

And of course, thanks to all the late night degenerates who made it out for the game. See you tonight!!

Impromptu results for 6.2.13

Nineteen 'late night degenerates' came out last week and joined us on the virtual felts of Lock Poker for another great running of The Impromptu! What a fine group of regulars we see each week, always giving their all in pursuit of the coveted Impromptu Cup. It's always a pleasure playing with these competitors, and the games never disappoint.

We had to go through ten tough players to get us down to the final table. A lot of multi-time winners, including nine-time winner zix zix who was the first to hit the rail, fell by the wayside as we whittled the field down to these nine fine players . . .

Paying three spots this night would mean our fourth place finisher would burst the bubble, and it would be island21 going out, having his flopped flush counterfeited with a fourth heart on the turn . . .

Two big stacks against Lucky_Lucy made it look like we would have a heads-up match between a four-time and a five-time winner. But that was not to be, as SuddenMoves would find himself felted in 3rd place. This would leave Lucky_Lucy and Burkey76 heads up for the cup, and the game would come to an end on this final hand . . .

Our congratulations go out to burkey76, winning his second Impromptu in a row, and his fifth overall!!!

And a big hand to Luck_Lucy for her runner-up finish!!!

And I would like to thank all of the players who come out each week and continue to make this the best game of the week!!!

Impromptu results for 5.26.13

Last week, twenty-five 'late night degenerates' came out to the virtual felts of Lock Poker for the grand event we call the Impromptu. No doubt many of them with hopes of taking down the host, and winning big with the 'progressive' bounty posted by NotBatgirl.

The bounty started at a dollar, and a dollar was added each time someone other than me went out. So ideally, beating me heads up would be worth maximum value. And by the time we got down to a final table with these nine fine players, the bounty exceeded first place money . . . .

As you can see, coming to the final table with only six big blinds, I was in jeopardy of going out quickly. But peedidy would go out first, bringing the bounty up to $18. I would finally succumb to a lack of chips, getting it all-in preflop against my cohost, T bone9. who would win the race and knock me out in 8th place, taking the bounty money in the process!

As the table whittled down, T bone9 would find herself going out on the bubble in 4th place, but still the big winner of the night. That left Halfcent2012, WinJStar1, and burkey76 to do battle for the cup. Halfcent2012 would be our third place finisher

To win the coveted Impromptu Cup is always a challenge, and our heads-up competitors both wanted the win. The heads up match was awesome to watch, and it would all come to a climax on this final hand . . .

Our congratulations go out to burkey76, who wins his fourth Impromptu title and joins some elite company in that group. And a big hand to WinJStar1, so close to her first Impromptu win. I'm sure there is a Cup in your future! And a big thanks to everyone for coming out, and continuing to make the Impromptu the great game of the week!!
